About
Vete-Katten Karolinska at Eugeniavägen 9 is a branch of the classic konditori founded in 1928 by Ester Nordhammar on the principle that everyone should be welcome – she ran it until 1961 and bequeathed it to four employees. Today Vete-Katten runs nine units in the Stockholm area; the Karolinska branch is the only one outside Stockholm municipality. It serves the konditori’s pastries, sandwiches and coffee, with the hospital area’s longest café hours on weekdays: 07–19, plus weekends 10–16. Cakes are ordered through the chain’s shared online ordering, and co-owner Johan Sandelin was named Pastry Chef of the Year 2002.
